tackling health inequalities in Leeds and Wakefield
Leeds 14 Trust enjoy day at Health Lottery Tea Party

Leeds 14 Trust, a development trust making their estate a more vibrant place to live and work, attended The Health Lottery Tea Party at the Savoy Hotel in London, hosted by Simon Cowell, where their work in the community was celebrated.

LS14 Trust has received investment of almost £25,000 from People's Health Trust, thanks to money raised by HealthAmaze through The Health Lottery.

The Health Lottery Tea Party celebrated groups and organisations in communities across Great Britain that are helping to make where they live an even better place, and showcased the incredible work that thousands of local people are doing to reduce health inequalities.

The event also celebrated £50 million being raised by society lotteries for good causes through The Health Lottery.

Nicola Greenan, from LS 14 Trust, said: "This funding has helped us to set up our own community market and train local people which have enabled some of them to get back into work."

John Hume, Chief Executive, People's Health Trust, said: "To have raised over £50m in two and half years is incredible. The funding has enabled us to support 1,300 projects across Great Britain.

"With the current financial pressure that many charities are feeling, without this invaluable new source of money, many of the brilliant local projects we have funded would never have seen the light of day."

Simon Cowell, said: "I am involved with lots of charities but rarely do I meet people who actually benefit so it's great to be here today. The fact that The Health Lottery has hit a £50 million target is sensational.

"It takes a driving force to raise millions for charity and Richard Desmond has achieved that in such a short time. Makes us all proud to be British!"

Money raised through the Health Lottery
The Health Lottery scheme manages 51 Society Lotteries that operate in rotation and each represents a different geographical region of Great Britain.
